Nha Trang bus stations: choose the right one and avoid missing your bus

Nha Trang's Northern Bus Station is closer to the city center, while the new Southern Bus Station is farther away but serves many intercity routes. Choosing the right station or shuttle pickup point can save you both taxi money and travel time.

Nha Trang has two main intercity bus terminals: the Northern Bus Station near 2 Thang 4 Street and the new Southern Bus Station on Vo Nguyen Giap Boulevard. The old Southern Bus Station on 23 Thang 10 Street stopped handling regular intercity routes on April 1, 2024. Before booking a taxi or heading to your bus, check three things on your ticket: the bus company, the exact pickup address, and whether a shuttle transfer is included.

How many bus stations are there in Nha Trang?

Nha Trang has two main intercity bus stations, located in different parts of the city. Bus companies such as FUTA Bus Lines, Lien Hung, Cuc Tung, and several limousine operators also operate private offices and designated pickup points.

A bus station is not the same as a bus company office.

An intercity bus station is a shared terminal where different operators park, pick up passengers, and depart according to their schedules. A private bus office belongs to one company and may work as a ticket counter, waiting area, pickup point, or shuttle meeting place.

You might purchase a ticket at an office in downtown Nha Trang but still need to board the main bus at the new Southern Bus Station, more than 10 km away. On another route, you may board directly outside the company's office without going to a bus terminal at all.

The name of your destination is not enough to pick a station. Even for a popular route such as Nha Trang to Quy Nhon, different operators may use different departure points.

Where is Nha Trang Northern Bus Station?

Nha Trang Northern Bus Station is at 1 Dien Bien Phu Street, near the intersection with 2 Thang 4 Street, Bac Nha Trang Ward, Khanh Hoa Province.

Some directories and transport operators list the address as 1, 2 Thang 4 Street, in the former Vinh Hoa Ward. These refer to the same Northern Bus Station area rather than two separate intercity terminals.

The main contact information is:

  • Station name: Nha Trang Northern Bus Station (Bến xe phía Bắc Nha Trang).
  • Address commonly used by booking platforms: 1 Dien Bien Phu Street.
  • Ticket office address: 1, 2 Thang 4 Street.
  • Ticket office phone: +84 258 3838 788.

The terminal is located north of central Nha Trang, close to the main roads connecting the former Vinh Hai and Vinh Hoa residential areas with the rest of the city. From here, you can reach Hon Chong, the Po Nagar Cham Towers, or the main beachfront district.

How far is the Northern Bus Station from the city center?

Using 2/4 Square and Tram Huong Tower as central landmarks, the road distance from Northern Bus Station is generally around 5-7 km, depending on your route.

Allow approximately 15-25 minutes by taxi under normal traffic conditions. The journey is usually shorter to hotels near Hon Chong, Pham Van Dong Street, or Nha Trang University.

A common route follows 2 Thang 4 Street toward central Nha Trang, crosses the Tran Phu Bridge area, and continues toward your hotel. Drivers may choose another route depending on traffic.

The main advantage of the Northern Bus Station is its proximity to the beachfront districts. You do not have to travel very far before reaching the areas where many visitors stay.

A motorbike taxi may be a reasonable choice for solo travelers with a small backpack. Two people, a large suitcase, or heavy rain all make a four-seat taxi more convenient.

Which bus routes depart from the Northern Bus Station?

Northern Bus Station commonly serves connections between Nha Trang and destinations along Vietnam's central coast and farther north.

Typical destinations include Tuy Hoa, Quy Nhon, Quang Ngai, Da Nang, Hue, and several longer-distance routes.

For Quy Nhon, Duc Huy (Quy Nhon) operates two morning departures from the Northern Bus Station, at 6:00 AM and 7:00 AM. The 2026 fare is approximately VND 200,000 per passenger for a 44-berth sleeper bus.

Passengers are dropped off near Phuong Linh Petrol Station in Quy Nhon, not at hotels in the city center, so you may need another short transfer after arriving. Other operators serving Quy Nhon may use Quy Nhon Bus Station, the Phu Tai intersection, or their own offices as drop-off points.

For Da Nang, Cuc Tung runs services from Nha Trang Northern Bus Station, with 2026 fares starting at approximately VND 470,000 depending on the travel date and bus type.

These examples show the types of services available at the Northern Bus Station. They do not represent a fixed timetable for every company. Departure times and boarding points should always be confirmed for the specific journey you book.

Where is the new Nha Trang Southern Bus Station?

The new Nha Trang Southern Bus Station is on Vo Nguyen Giap Boulevard, Trung Nam Hamlet, in the Dien Khanh area of Khanh Hoa Province.

Its official name is Bến xe khách liên tỉnh phía Nam, meaning Southern Interprovincial Passenger Bus Station. The terminal opened on April 1, 2024, replacing the former Southern Bus Station at km 6 on 23 Thang 10 Street.

When it opened in 2024, its full address was Trung Nam Hamlet, Dien Toan Commune, Dien Khanh District. Following Vietnam's administrative changes in 2025, the address became Dien Khanh Commune, Khanh Hoa Province.

Both the old and updated administrative descriptions may appear in travel information, but the most useful location identifiers are Vo Nguyen Giap Boulevard and New Southern Bus Station.

Main details:

  • Station name: Nha Trang Southern Interprovincial Bus Station.
  • Address: Vo Nguyen Giap Boulevard, Trung Nam Hamlet, Dien Khanh, Khanh Hoa.
  • Station operator phone: +84 258 3913 868.
  • Opening date: April 1, 2024.
  • Location: West of central Nha Trang, near roads connecting to National Highway 1.

The new terminal has a larger site, bus parking areas, ticket counters, and passenger waiting facilities. Its location also allows intercity buses to connect with major highways without following the same route through the former terminal on 23 Thang 10 Street.

How far is the new Southern Bus Station from central Nha Trang?

From the 2/4 Square area, you should allow for roughly 10-15 km of road travel to the new Southern Bus Station, depending on the route. A taxi journey generally takes around 25-40 minutes in ordinary traffic, although delays are possible during busy periods.

Most routes lead west from the city center toward Vo Nguyen Giap Boulevard and the Dien Khanh area.

First-time visitors should enter the station's full name into a ride-hailing application and confirm that the destination is on Vo Nguyen Giap Boulevard. Do not simply search for "Southern Bus Station" and select the first result. Older websites and map listings may still show the former terminal on 23 Thang 10 Street.

Is the old Nha Trang Southern Bus Station still operating?

The old Southern Bus Station at km 6 on 23 Thang 10 Street stopped operating regular intercity passenger services on April 1, 2024. Fixed-route passenger services moved to the new Southern Interprovincial Bus Station on Vo Nguyen Giap Boulevard, with departure schedules initially unchanged and routes to National Highway 1 adjusted.

This is particularly important when reading a Nha Trang travel guide published before April 2024. Many older guides direct passengers to the former Southern Bus Station, where several operators previously maintained ticket counters or boarding facilities. Those addresses may still appear in outdated directories, map entries, and travel articles.

Where is the FUTA Bus Lines station in Nha Trang?

Phuong Trang, commonly known in English as FUTA Bus Lines, operates several passenger service locations in Nha Trang, so travelers searching for "FUTA Bus Station Nha Trang" may find both private company offices and ticket counters within intercity terminals.

The company's addresses include:

FUTA locationAddress

Nguyen Thi Minh Khai office151 Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street
Hoang Hoa Tham branch7 Hoang Hoa Tham Street
Northern Bus Station ticket counterNear 1, 2 Thang 4 Street
New Southern Bus Station service pointSouthern Interprovincial Bus Station, Dien Khanh

Not every listed location is a boarding point for every route. Office opening status, boarding arrangements, and the required arrival time should be confirmed when booking.

The FUTA Bus Lines ticket booking and customer service hotline within Vietnam is 1900 6067. When the Nha Trang-Can Tho route opened in December 2024, the company also gave 1900 6097 as a booking hotline.

Does FUTA provide free shuttle transfers in Nha Trang?

Yes, on eligible routes and within the applicable pickup and drop-off areas.

Since late 2024, FUTA has offered free shuttle transfers within a 10 km radius at both ends of its South Nha Trang-Can Tho route. This does not mean every FUTA ticket includes free pickup from every hotel in Nha Trang.

For example, suppose you are staying near Tran Quang Khai Street and booking a bus to Da Lat. Before paying, check whether the company can collect you from your hotel, whether you need to go to the Tran Quy Cap office, or whether you must travel independently to the bus station.

A shuttle has its own pickup time and meeting point, so confirm both. The shuttle pickup time will not necessarily be the same as the departure time shown for the main intercity bus.

Do you still need to go to the station after buying at a FUTA office?

Some tickets list a downtown FUTA office as the boarding point. You arrive there, show your booking, and follow the staff's instructions to board the bus or a connecting shuttle.

Other tickets may specify the new Southern Bus Station. In that case, you need to establish whether FUTA will provide a shuttle or whether you are responsible for getting to the terminal.

The nearest orange FUTA office may not be where your bus leaves, so check your ticket first. The company has multiple offices, but each location does not necessarily handle departures for every route.

Popular bus routes from Nha Trang and ticket prices

Bus fares from Nha Trang depend on the operator, bus category, departure time, boarding location, and travel date. Standard seats, sleeper buses, private sleeper cabins, and limousine services can have significantly different prices.

The following are examples of 2026 prices, and fares vary by departure.

Which station should you use for a bus to Quy Nhon?

The Northern Bus Station is a useful place to begin your search for a regular intercity bus to Quy Nhon.

Duc Huy provides one specific example, with two morning departures from the Northern Bus Station, at 6:00 AM and 7:00 AM, and passengers dropped off at Phuong Linh Petrol Station in Quy Nhon. The ticket shows a journey time of approximately 3 hours and 40 minutes, but for practical planning allow around 4-5 hours to account for traffic and intermediate stops.

Not every bus to Quy Nhon leaves from the Northern Bus Station. Long-distance operators traveling along the central coast may use the new Southern Bus Station, a private office, or a highway pickup point.

Choose your trip based on both the departure and arrival locations. A slightly cheaper ticket may not save you money if the pickup point is far from your hotel.

Which bus should you take from Nha Trang to Da Lat?

The Nha Trang-Da Lat route is served by companies including FUTA Bus Lines, Cuc Tung Limousine, Khanh Phong, and other operators.

Buses parked at Da Lat Bus Station, the other end of the route.

The 2026 fares are approximately VND 210,000 for FUTA, VND 210,000 for Cuc Tung Limousine, and from around VND 180,000 for GoroTrip Limousine VIP. The operators do not necessarily use the same pickup locations.

The route crosses mountainous terrain, so consider how comfortable you are on winding roads. Traveling during daylight makes breaks, meals, and motion sickness easier to manage. Travel time is typically around 3.5-5 hours, depending on road conditions, the bus type, and the number of passenger stops.

A Da Lat bus doesn't always mean going to the new Southern Bus Station. Some companies board passengers at city offices, while others use separate designated pickup points.

Is an overnight bus to Ho Chi Minh City worth taking?

An overnight bus is practical if you want to spend a full day in Nha Trang and arrive in Ho Chi Minh City the next morning.

Bunks on either side of the aisle on a long-distance sleeper bus.

For example, Viet Nhat has a service departing its Nha Trang office at 9:00 PM and reaching its District 1 office at approximately 5:00 AM. The 2026 fare is around VND 340,000 for a 24-berth limousine sleeper bus.

The advantage is that you avoid spending most of your daytime hours traveling. The disadvantage is that sleeping on a bus is not as comfortable as sleeping in a hotel bed, particularly for taller passengers or light sleepers.

Before booking, check where the bus arrives in Ho Chi Minh City. Some services use major terminals outside the central districts, while others drop passengers at downtown offices. That difference can have a considerable effect on both taxi costs and the time needed to reach your accommodation.

How to get from Nha Trang bus stations to the city center

Most tourists stay around Tran Phu Street, Hung Vuong Street, Nguyen Thien Thuat Street, Tran Quang Khai Street, or the area near 2/4 Square.

From either main bus station, your practical options are taxis, ride-hailing services, or a bus company shuttle if your ticket includes one.

Taxis and ride-hailing cars

A four-seat taxi is usually the simplest choice with luggage.

Enter your hotel's address into a ride-hailing application, review the fare before confirming, and travel directly to your accommodation without changing vehicles.

Services in Nha Trang include Green SM, Grab, and conventional taxi companies such as Mai Linh and Sun Taxi.

A Green SM electric taxi, one of the options from the station into town.

Green SM's reference taxi rates for Nha Trang, dated February 12, 2025:

  • First 2 km: VND 29,500.
  • After 2 km through 12 km: VND 18,000 per km.
  • After 12 km through 25 km: VND 18,000 per km.
  • From 26 km onward: VND 12,500 per km.

On this tariff, the distance-based fare for a 6 km journey would be approximately VND 101,500, while a 12 km journey would be approximately VND 209,500. These are illustrative calculations using 2025 prices. Actual prices depend on your route, vehicle type, booking time, applicable surcharges, and current pricing policies.

These estimates are useful for budgeting:

JourneyEstimated travel timeSuggested taxi budget
Northern Bus Station to central Tran Phu Street15-25 minutesVND 90,000-150,000
New Southern Bus Station to central Tran Phu Street25-40 minutesVND 180,000-280,000
Northern Bus Station to Hon ChongAround 10-15 minutesDepends on the address; generally less than traveling downtown
Downtown bus office to a nearby hotelDepends on distanceWalking or a short ride may be possible

These budgets are estimates based on travel distances and reference tariffs.

For two or three passengers, sharing a taxi is often reasonable. A VND 210,000 ride divided among three people costs around VND 70,000 each, without the inconvenience of carrying suitcases between multiple stops.

Motorbike taxis

A motorbike taxi is suitable for solo travelers carrying a small backpack and looking to save money. It is particularly worth considering from Northern Bus Station because the journey to central Nha Trang is relatively short.

The new Southern Bus Station is farther away. A motorbike ride from there can be uncomfortable in hot weather, heavy rain, or after a long overnight bus journey.

Avoid this option with a large suitcase. Wear the required helmet and make sure your luggage does not interfere with the rider's ability to control the motorbike safely.

Bus company shuttle services

Before paying for a taxi, check whether your bus company provides a shuttle. Some operators arrange transfers between their terminals, city offices, hotels, and designated pickup areas.

FUTA Bus Lines, for instance, offers complimentary transfers within a specified radius for its Nha Trang-Can Tho service.

Before your bus reaches Nha Trang, ask the staff where you will be dropped off and whether a connecting shuttle is available. A hotel on Tran Quang Khai Street, for example, needs the full street address and building number rather than simply asking to go to the beach.

Can you take a public bus from the bus station?

Public buses can be an inexpensive way to travel, but their routes require particular care because many online Nha Trang bus guides still describe older services.

Previous travel articles frequently mentioned Route 6, which connected the former Southern Bus Station, Northern Bus Station, and Cho Luong Son, with fares of approximately VND 4,000. Those descriptions referred to the old Southern Bus Station on 23 Thang 10 Street, not the new terminal in Dien Khanh.

In August 2026, Khanh Hoa approved a proposed bus route network for 2026-2030, including routes involving major bus stations. Approval of a route network does not necessarily mean every planned service is already operating on its proposed schedule.

Avoid planning your departure around the old Route 6 timetable. To use public transport, ask the terminal information counter or the relevant bus operator for the current route, direction, stops, and last departure of the day.

For a fixed intercity departure, a confirmed shuttle or booked taxi is generally easier to plan around.

Which drop-off point should you choose when arriving in Nha Trang?

Coming from another Vietnamese city, check your hotel's location before choosing your bus. A large bus terminal is not always the most convenient place to get off.

Staying near Tran Phu, Hung Vuong, or Nguyen Thien Thuat Streets

Close to the beach, good for first visits

Tran Phu Street by day, with high-rise hotels behind the trees.

These are convenient areas for first-time visitors, with easy access to the beach, restaurants, cafés, and a wide selection of hotels.

A downtown drop-off or a shuttle close to your hotel is the option to prioritize.

Otherwise, compare the distance from the Northern Bus Station and the new Southern Bus Station. The Northern Bus Station is generally closer, but only useful if your bus actually serves that terminal.

Staying around Hon Chong or northern Nha Trang

The Northern Bus Station is usually easier

The stacked boulders at Hon Chong, just north of the city center.

Northern Bus Station is usually more convenient for accommodation near Hon Chong, Pham Van Dong Street, and the neighborhoods north of Tran Phu Bridge.

From the terminal, you can travel directly to your hotel instead of heading downtown and doubling back. For a morning arrival, this is also a practical option if you want to leave your luggage at the hotel and visit nearby attractions such as the Po Nagar Cham Towers and Hon Chong.

Staying in western Nha Trang

The new Southern Bus Station may suit

Hotels or family homes near Vo Nguyen Giap Boulevard, 23 Thang 10 Street, or Dien Khanh may be easier to reach from the new Southern Bus Station. There is little reason to travel all the way to the Tran Phu beachfront district only to return west. This is especially relevant if you are visiting Nha Trang for business or making a short connection rather than staying near the beach.

Staying at Bai Dai Beach or in Cam Ranh

Look for a closer drop-off

Palms and thatched umbrellas in front of a resort on Bai Dai (Long Beach), on the northern Cam Ranh peninsula, seen from above at sunrise

Photo: L.K.Phung

A resort on Bai Dai at sunrise, a long way from the new Southern Bus Station.

Bai Dai Beach and Cam Ranh are in a different direction from most hotels in central Nha Trang.

The new Southern Bus Station is in Dien Khanh, not at Bai Dai Beach or Cam Ranh International Airport, so arriving there won't put you close to either destination.

Instead, look for a bus that offers a suitable drop-off in Cam Ranh, Cam Lam, or along the relevant route, if the operator allows it. That may save you a substantial taxi journey.

How early should you leave your hotel for the bus station?

Early-morning and overnight departures depend on the distance to the terminal and the time the operator requires passengers to check in. A simple example makes this easier to plan.

A departure from the Northern Bus Station

Suppose you have booked the 7:00 AM Duc Huy bus from Nha Trang to Quy Nhon. Aim to arrive at the Northern Bus Station around 6:30 AM, or earlier if you need to purchase your ticket in person or check in a large amount of luggage.

From a hotel around Hung Vuong Street, allow approximately 15-25 minutes for the drive, so leaving around 6:00 AM gives you a reasonable buffer. Do not plan to reach the station at the exact scheduled departure time. The bus may begin checking tickets, loading luggage, or boarding passengers earlier.

A departure from the new Southern Bus Station

The Southern Bus Station needs more travel time because it is outside the central tourist district. Imagine your bus departs at 8:00 PM and the company asks passengers to arrive 30 minutes before departure, so you need to be at the terminal around 7:30 PM.

From a hotel near Tran Phu Street, allow approximately 25-40 minutes for the journey, plus time to find a car and deal with possible traffic. Leaving around 6:40-6:50 PM provides more flexibility than setting off at the last minute.

These are planning examples rather than mandatory check-in times. An earlier arrival on your ticket takes priority.

A pickup at a bus company office

Save the pickup address and the operator's contact number when you book, so any change to the shuttle vehicle, pickup time, or meeting point is quick to check.

Where can you buy bus tickets in Nha Trang?

You can buy intercity bus tickets at station counters, directly through bus companies, or via booking platforms such as Vexere. Each method has advantages.

Buying tickets at the bus station

This suits anyone already near the terminal who wants a regular scheduled bus or prefers speaking directly with ticket counter staff. You can ask about departure times, vehicle types, drop-off points, available seats, and luggage conditions.

The downside is having to travel to the station. Booking online will often be more convenient than visiting the new Southern Bus Station from a beach hotel just to purchase a ticket.

Booking directly with a bus company

This is a good option when you already know which operator you want, such as FUTA Bus Lines, Cuc Tung, or Viet Nhat. Booking through an official channel also gives you an opportunity to clarify shuttle availability, check-in times, ticket changes, and the final drop-off point.

For FUTA, use the company's official website, application, or published booking hotline.

Using a bus ticket booking platform

The main advantage of a booking platform is the ability to compare multiple operators on the same route. For Nha Trang to Da Lat, for example, you can compare departure times, fares, seat categories, and pickup points. Routes such as Nha Trang to Quy Nhon may offer both sleeper buses and limousine-style seating.

Before paying, open the detailed pickup information. Reading only the destination and departure time is not enough. Also check cancellation conditions, ticket change rules, and the final amount payable after any fees or discounts.

Common mistakes that can send you to the wrong bus station

Following an old Southern Bus Station address

That is the former terminal

You search online and find a guide showing the Southern Bus Station at km 6 on 23 Thang 10 Street. That is the former terminal address. The new Southern Interprovincial Bus Station has been operating in Dien Khanh since April 2024.

Compare the address with your ticket and confirm it with your operator, because an older map listing may still be visible.

Assuming every Quy Nhon bus leaves from the Northern Bus Station

Choose the bus, then find its pickup

Northern Bus Station has services to Quy Nhon, but not every operator uses it.

Some companies operating longer central-coast routes may collect passengers at the new Southern Bus Station, a downtown office, or a highway pickup point.

Choose your bus first, identify its pickup location, and only then arrange transport to the departure point.

Buying a FUTA ticket at an office and assuming the bus departs there

Ask when you get your ticket

A ticket sales office and the actual boarding point may be different places. Ask the staff whether the main bus stops outside that office or whether a shuttle takes passengers to another terminal. That one question can save you an unnecessary taxi journey.

Arriving in Nha Trang around midnight

Have a transfer plan

Overnight bus arrival times can vary because of traffic, intermediate stops, and weather conditions. At the new Southern Bus Station, taxis may not be waiting and a ride-hailing car may not be immediately available.

Keep your hotel address and reception phone number handy, and arrange a suitable transfer if necessary. If the operator offers a nighttime shuttle, confirm its availability before departure. Families traveling with small children or older passengers may prefer an option that requires fewer vehicle changes.

Getting off at a highway stop instead of a bus terminal

Nga Ba Thanh is not the center

Some long-distance buses pass through the Nha Trang area without entering a downtown terminal. Their drop-off points may be along major roads rather than at one of the two main bus stations.

When booking, check whether the ticket says "bus station," "office," "Nga Ba Thanh," or another specific location. These places are not interchangeable. Nga Ba Thanh, in the Dien Khanh area, is not the same as 2/4 Square in central Nha Trang.

What should international visitors know about Nha Trang bus stations?

Foreign travelers are most often confused by the pickup address.

Tickets may show Vietnamese place names without accents, older administrative addresses, or office names that do not clearly indicate whether they are bus terminals.

Save a screenshot of your booking showing the operator's name, ticket reference, pickup address, and required meeting time.

If you do not have a Vietnamese phone number, find out whether the operator can contact you through email, its application, or a messaging service.

You should provide a reachable contact number on the day of travel whenever possible. Some companies confirm pickup points or vehicle details by phone shortly before departure.

When booking at an office, show the staff your hotel's address and ask about the nearest approved boarding location. Avoid simply asking for "city center," as central Nha Trang covers a fairly large area and not every bus company offers hotel pickups.

Travelers with large suitcases should also check luggage rules when buying tickets. A smaller limousine-style vehicle may have less luggage capacity than a conventional large sleeper bus.

Should you choose the Northern Bus Station, the Southern Bus Station, or a private office?

There is no single best departure point for every journey. The right choice depends on your accommodation, destination, and the bus operator's actual pickup arrangements.

A Northern Bus Station departure such as Duc Huy's morning service can be convenient from Hon Chong to Quy Nhon.

For Ho Chi Minh City or the Mekong Delta, compare services at the new Southern Bus Station and check whether operators offer downtown pickups.

On routes with numerous limousine services, such as Nha Trang to Da Lat, the pickup location can be just as important as the fare and departure time.

Finally, when two bus tickets have similar prices, include the cost of reaching the station in your comparison. A ticket costing VND 30,000-50,000 more may still be the better deal if the pickup point is within walking distance of your hotel.

Before your next journey, compare bus services on the Nha Trang-Quy Nhon, Nha Trang-Da Lat, or Nha Trang-Ho Chi Minh City routes, including both ticket prices and boarding locations. Near Tran Phu Street, check for an included shuttle transfer before paying for a taxi to the terminal.
